Welcome to A Holy Pause!

Updated: Aug 15, 2023

I'm grateful you stopped by today. This Holy Pause with Jesus could change your life. When you pause and notice what is going on inside and around you, while inviting Jesus in to be with you, something beautiful happens. However, it won't be easy. This might even sound scary. It can be. We will go slow. Coming to Him right where we are can change everything.

The holy pause invites you to be present where you are not where you wish you were.

This invitation is to take notice of moments you may have missed.

Those butterflies in your stomach. The tension that you body feels. The resistance when a certain person is around. The isolation and withdraw. Church hurt. Trust that has been lost. The anger when unkind words are spoken. Let's switch gears. The joy that cup of coffee brings you in the morning. Your child's laughter. Your return to college or school with your favorite people. Words of affirmation. The vulnerability in sharing your heart with someone you can trust. The fun vacation that gave you moments you will treasure forever. The lightning bugs at night.

If you haven't watched my YouTube video, stop by anytime @aholypausespiritualdirection. Every Wednesday on my channel, I invite you to be transformed by a deeper journey with Christ! This is a practice Jesus, our teacher, taught us to practice. I can't wait to share more over the coming months. I hope you will join me. He will be our Teacher and Shepherd every step of the way.

I invite you to a journey.. Be kind to yourself. Go at your own pace. Over the next few days, take a few minutes and journal (if you don't journal just ponder) what you are noticing.

  • What are you noticing lately in your life? Notice the moments of tension, the moments of joy, and the ordinary moments. Name it.

  • Let's go one step further. What emotions are you noticing in those moments? Write those beside each thing you have noticed.

  • Offer the moments and emotions that you are noticing to God. Have a conversation with Him. Picture Jesus sitting with you as you share what you are noticing. What might He be saying in these moments?

  • Is there an invitation in what you are noticing? Are you feeling resistance in any area?

Take a few minutes to pray. Ask Jesus what He wants to show you. Jesus invited people to a holy pause with Him and when they followed, everything changed. He is gentle, loving, and kind.

As you go about your day, pause, Jesus is with you and longs to speak to you. Have a conversation with Him.

His arms are open wide, inviting you to experience the depth of His love for you!

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. Jeremiah 32:17 NIV

Read and reflect on these verses a few times. Ponder these verses.

"And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:14-19 MSG

Praying these verses over you, fellow pilgrims. We're on this journey together.
