My husband invited me to come and make snow angels with him and so we did! (I am sure you can guess which one is his and which one is mine!)
Has your soul ever longed for more? More time to just be. More time to enjoy. More time to do the things you loved to do. More time to spend with Jesus. More transformation in your life. More spiritual growth. More fun and laughter. More joy each and every day. More community. More transparency. More space to hear God's gentle whispers. More of God in and around you.
PAUSE
Sometimes we aren't sure what our soul longs for? Pause and reflect on that question. What does your soul long for more of? Take a minute to PAUSE and write it down. Say it out loud. Share it with a friend.
I love this raw and honest Psalm of David in the Wilderness...(Don't miss that part...wilderness.) Take a few minutes to read this psalm. What stands out to you? What do you notice? Is there a phrase that resonates. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom to help you see what He wants you to see.
A Psalm Of David, when He Was In The Wilderness Of Judah
"My Soul Thirsts for You
"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory."
Psalm 63:1-2
PRAY
Invite God's presence to be with you. Speak to you. Allow 2-3 minutes of silence to listen. Linger with what the Spirit is showing you. Notice resistance. Notice an invitation. Be curious and trust that you can be like David and tell God your honest feelings. He longs for you to come as you are.
If you answered, "yes", to any of the above questions...I am glad you are here. You were created for a longing for MORE. The best news is....Jesus wants to give you more. Before I go any further let's clarify what MORE is...MORE is MORE of Jesus. More of His presence. More of his living water. More of His love. More time in His sanctuary 'beholding His power and glory.'
Where do you go to be in His sanctuary? For me it was an invitation to bundle up and go for a walk and make snow angels! An invitation, I will treasure. Enjoying His creation with my husband. His creation leaves me in awe!
The invitation to more of Jesus is our best yes but the most costly.
The best part is.....He has already paid for how costly it is to follow Him. He said, “It is finished!” John 19: 29-30. That's that Gospel. The Good News. His invitation to more is to follow Him.
Jesus invited us to take up our cross and follow Him. Take a few minutes to read Jesus' words and His invitation.
Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus
"Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?" Matthew 16: 24-26.
FOLLOW
What is God saying to you today? Where is God inviting you to follow Him today? Just today. Just this moment. This holy pause with Jesus can change your entire day. The soul work that God is inviting is hard yet He will do the work. The entering of His sanctuary. "I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory." is a holy pause moment. The invitation to repent. To receive. To change. To take up your cross and follow. To be reminded that He DEEPLY, DEEPLY, DEEPLY loves you. He hasn't forgotten you. He sees you. His cross is costly but HE paid the cost and we simply follow. He will complete the good work in you. He has all we need. We worship a Savior that does the work for us. That is grace and mercy. I know it is scary. Yes, that path He invites us to is more of himself. Let Him take your hand today and simply follow.
